Performance and reflection: Concluding the Ski(e)n exhibition
An evening of performance and reflection concluded the exhibition Ski(e)n: Re-membering through Performance and Thread at Dhoomimal Gallery on 20th January 2026.
The evening commenced with a live performance by Abhijna Vemuru Kasa titled Inside the Stillness. The performance explored memory and experiences that externalize the forgotten aspects of femininity, as well as the trauma and transformation that become a part of the skin. This was followed by a site-specific dance performance called Phirun: The Whisper of Memories by Anupama Kaushik within the installation space of The Voyage Within by Insha Manzoor. The dance breathed life into the threads of the exhibition, translating complex emotions into physical form.
The evening was enriched by curatorial comments from Jyoti A Kathpalia, who reflected on the creative journey and the dialogue between the artists’ works. Followed by the artists Insha Manzoor and Abhijna Vemuru Kasa expressing gratitude to the curator and the gallery to support their vision. Closing remarks were delivered by Uday Jain, Director of Dhoomimal Gallery, who expressed gratitude to the artists and visitors who transformed the exhibition into a shared experience of discovery. This final program offered a meaningful space for closure, honouring the intricate layers of memory and performance that defined the showcase.
